Few squads were talked about as much as Islamabad United before PSL 11, and Sameen Gul was right in the middle of it as the group turned ten league games into 1 points and second place in the final table. United reached the playoffs yet again, keeping up the most consistent qualification record in the league.
About Sameen Gul
Coaching staffs judge squad players on readiness: nets intensity, fielding standards, and whether the first chance — whenever it lands — finds them prepared. The ones who pass that test keep getting contracts.
There is a pattern to players who arrive via franchise and domestic cricket inside Pakistan, where a single strong season can redraw a career. They tend to be tactically literate early, and in this case versatility is the calling card: roles shift, standards do not.
Selection logic at Islamabad United starts with balance, and Shadab Khan's sides usually reflect it: spin is trusted through the middle overs even on true surfaces.

Why some lines say PENDING: this guide refuses to estimate career numbers. If the PCB, ESPNcricinfo, Wisden or a checked record list has not published it, the line waits.
Travel changes the equation too. A squad based around Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium still has to win in Karachi, Lahore or wherever the fixture list sends them, and away points decided the playoff line last season.
Sameen Gul and PSL 12
With five to six venues in the PSL 12 plan, adaptability becomes a selection criterion in itself — the Islamabad United staff will weigh it before the opener against opponents such as Peshawar Zalmi or Hyderabad Kingsmen. The honest measure will be the big moments — a qualifier, a chase under lights, a final over. That is where squad reputations in this league are made.
