When the PSL 11 squads were locked in, Salman Irshad took a place in a Islamabad United group that turned ten league games into 1 points and second place in the final table. United reached the playoffs yet again, keeping up the most consistent qualification record in the league.
Salman Irshad profile
The jump from squad member to regular is the PSL's quiet storyline every season. It usually starts with one opportunity nobody planned — and a player who had clearly been waiting for exactly that.
What stands out on the training ground is consistency of method, the product of a development path through franchise and domestic cricket inside Pakistan, where a single strong season can redraw a career: preparation is treated as part of performance, not a warm-up for it.
Selection logic at Islamabad United starts with balance, and Shadab Khan's sides usually reflect it: the top order is given licence early and accountability late.

Evening games at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium have a particular rhythm — heat early, dew late — and Islamabad United's planning all season bends around it.
Salman Irshad and PSL 12
A title defence, a rebuild, a point to prove — every franchise carries a label into PSL 12. For Islamabad United, the label matters less than the first fortnight, when Multan Sultans-calibre opposition usually exposes weak combinations. What to watch is how the captain uses this player when the match tightens — those overs and those batting positions tell you the real pecking order.
