The Islamabad United dressing room for PSL 11 mixed senior internationals with emerging names, and Haider Ali was one of the players who ended the season in second place on 1 points. United reached the playoffs yet again, keeping up the most consistent qualification record in the league.
Haider Ali profile
Coaches protect this role for a reason. A batter who can be trusted against both pace and spin, home and away, lets the captain build the rest of the order around a fixed point.
The road here ran through Pakistan's age-group and domestic system, the same pipeline the PCB's new pathway tournaments are built to widen, and it shows in the way the role is played: the workload is managed like a senior professional's, whatever the birth certificate says.
Selection logic at Islamabad United starts with balance, and Shadab Khan's sides usually reflect it: spin is trusted through the middle overs even on true surfaces.

Why some lines say PENDING: this guide refuses to estimate career numbers. If the PCB, ESPNcricinfo, Wisden or a checked record list has not published it, the line waits.
Travel changes the equation too. A squad based around Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium still has to win in Karachi, Lahore or wherever the fixture list sends them, and away points decided the playoff line last season.
Haider Ali and PSL 12
A title defence, a rebuild, a point to prove — every franchise carries a label into PSL 12. For Islamabad United, the label matters less than the first fortnight, when Lahore Qalandars-calibre opposition usually exposes weak combinations. Watch the first selection of the season closely. Game-one XIs are the most honest documents in franchise cricket — everything after is adjustment.
