Fakhar Zaman was named in the Lahore Qalandars squad for the first eight-team season in league history, a group that banked 0 points and a fifth-place finish across ten league matches. It was a rare early exit for the three-time champions.
About Fakhar Zaman
Fakhar Zaman scored 588 runs in the 2022 season, a single-season record he now shares with Babar Azam (2026). He also sits at the top of the PSL six-hitting charts across his career with Lahore Qalandars.
Coaches protect this role for a reason. A batter who can be trusted against both pace and spin, home and away, lets the captain build the rest of the order around a fixed point.
Coaches who have worked with players from the domestic one-day and T20 circuit in Pakistan, a route that rewards patience as much as talent tend to say the same thing — the workload is managed like a senior professional's, whatever the birth certificate says.
Selection logic at Lahore Qalandars starts with balance, and Shaheen Shah Afridi's sides usually reflect it: match-ups are hunted aggressively, even at the cost of a settled XI.

A note on sources: figures on this page come from the PCB, the official league site, ESPNcricinfo, Wisden or cross-checked record lists. Lines without a traced source stay PENDING on purpose.
Travel changes the equation too. A squad based around Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore still has to win in Karachi, Lahore or wherever the fixture list sends them, and away points decided the playoff line last season.
Fakhar Zaman and PSL 12
A title defence, a rebuild, a point to prove — every franchise carries a label into PSL 12. For Lahore Qalandars, the label matters less than the first fortnight, when Hyderabad Kingsmen-calibre opposition usually exposes weak combinations. Keep an eye on match-ups: PSL captains are ruthless about exploiting one weak over or one favourable boundary size.
