Asif Afridi goes into the PSL 12 build-up as part of a Rawalpindiz squad that finished the league stage in eighth place with 0 points. The season never matched the auction-day ambition in Rawalpindi.
Asif Afridi profile
Coaches describe this role as the team's spare wheel and engine in one. When injuries hit a long season, the all-rounder's workload quietly doubles, and squads are judged on how well they planned for exactly that.
Coaches who have worked with players from franchise and domestic cricket inside Pakistan, where a single strong season can redraw a career tend to say the same thing — the workload is managed like a senior professional's, whatever the birth certificate says.
Inside the Rawalpindiz XI, the fit is shaped by Mohammad Rizwan's habits: the bowling attack is rotated by venue more than by reputation.

Why some lines say PENDING: this guide refuses to estimate career numbers. If the PCB, ESPNcricinfo, Wisden or a checked record list has not published it, the line waits.
Evening games at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium have a particular rhythm — heat early, dew late — and Rawalpindiz's planning all season bends around it.
Asif Afridi and PSL 12
A title defence, a rebuild, a point to prove — every franchise carries a label into PSL 12. For Rawalpindiz, the label matters less than the first fortnight, when Peshawar Zalmi-calibre opposition usually exposes weak combinations. The telling stat will not be the headline one. It will be performance in the phase this player is actually bought for — and whether it survives contact with the playoffs.
