As Quetta Gladiators rebuilt through the first-ever PSL auction, Khalil Ahmed became part of a squad that banked 0 points and a seventh-place finish across ten league matches. It was a season of transition for the Gladiators.
About Khalil Ahmed
The jump from squad member to regular is the PSL's quiet storyline every season. It usually starts with one opportunity nobody planned — and a player who had clearly been waiting for exactly that.
There is a pattern to players who arrive via franchise and domestic cricket inside Pakistan, where a single strong season can redraw a career. They tend to be tactically literate early, and in this case the basics are protected under pressure, even when the match demands improvisation.
Inside the Quetta Gladiators XI, the fit is shaped by Saud Shakeel's habits: youth is backed in clusters rather than one experiment at a time.

Evening games at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore (home fixtures) have a particular rhythm — heat early, dew late — and Quetta Gladiators's planning all season bends around it.
Khalil Ahmed and PSL 12
The season's shape — ten league matches, a four-team playoff squeeze — means slow starts are punished harder than ever; Quetta Gladiators's early fixtures, with sides like Rawalpindiz and Hyderabad Kingsmen in the rotation, will set the tone. The honest measure will be the big moments — a qualifier, a chase under lights, a final over. That is where squad reputations in this league are made.
