Iftikhar Ahmed was named in the Peshawar Zalmi squad for the first eight-team season in league history, a group that banked 1 points and a first-place finish across ten league matches. Zalmi then converted that dominance into the title, beating Hyderabad Kingsmen in the final.
Iftikhar Ahmed — the full profile
Coaches describe this role as the team's spare wheel and engine in one. When injuries hit a long season, the all-rounder's workload quietly doubles, and squads are judged on how well they planned for exactly that.
The road here ran through the domestic one-day and T20 circuit in Pakistan, a route that rewards patience as much as talent, and it shows in the way the role is played: versatility is the calling card: roles shift, standards do not.
How Babar Azam builds an innings decides where this player lands in the order of things: spin is trusted through the middle overs even on true surfaces.

Iftikhar Ahmed and PSL 12
A title defence, a rebuild, a point to prove — every franchise carries a label into PSL 12. For Peshawar Zalmi, the label matters less than the first fortnight, when Islamabad United-calibre opposition usually exposes weak combinations. Keep an eye on match-ups: PSL captains are ruthless about exploiting one weak over or one favourable boundary size.
