Ahsan Ali — the full profile
The jump from squad member to regular is the PSL's quiet storyline every season. It usually starts with one opportunity nobody planned — and a player who had clearly been waiting for exactly that.
There is a pattern to players who arrive via Pakistan's domestic circuit, where the National T20 and first-class grind still shape most PSL careers. They tend to be tactically literate early, and in this case the workload is managed like a senior professional's, whatever the birth certificate says.
How Saud Shakeel builds an innings decides where this player lands in the order of things: spin is trusted through the middle overs even on true surfaces.

Evening games at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore (home fixtures) have a particular rhythm — heat early, dew late — and Quetta Gladiators's planning all season bends around it.
Ahsan Ali and PSL 12
A title defence, a rebuild, a point to prove — every franchise carries a label into PSL 12. For Quetta Gladiators, the label matters less than the first fortnight, when Peshawar Zalmi-calibre opposition usually exposes weak combinations. The honest measure will be the big moments — a qualifier, a chase under lights, a final over. That is where squad reputations in this league are made.
