There was no quiet way into PSL 11 for Lahore Qalandars: a new auction, a new structure, and Abdullah Shafique inside a squad that banked 0 points and a fifth-place finish across ten league matches. It was a rare early exit for the three-time champions.
Abdullah Shafique — the full profile
Batting specialists in this league earn their place in phases: survive the new ball, milk the middle overs, then cash in when the death bowlers return. It is a rhythm role, and rhythm is the first thing a long season disrupts.
The road here ran through Pakistan's domestic circuit, where the National T20 and first-class grind still shape most PSL careers, and it shows in the way the role is played: versatility is the calling card: roles shift, standards do not.
Inside the Lahore Qalandars XI, the fit is shaped by Shaheen Shah Afridi's habits: the top order is given licence early and accountability late.

Abdullah Shafique and PSL 12
With five to six venues in the PSL 12 plan, adaptability becomes a selection criterion in itself — the Lahore Qalandars staff will weigh it before the opener against opponents such as Karachi Kings or Multan Sultans. What to watch is how the captain uses this player when the match tightens — those overs and those batting positions tell you the real pecking order.
